1. Grace Bay Beach
On the north side of one of the islands, you’ll find Grace Bay Beach. The beach spans 13 miles and has plenty of sand and water for you and your family to enjoy. It’s also close to various hotels, so you don’t have to travel far from your accommodations.
The soft sand and shallow waters make it one of the best Turks and Caicos beaches for families. Your kids can play in the sand or swim near the shore. Plus, there are markings for the areas where you can swim to help everyone stay safe.
If you aren’t staying along this beach, you can get there with various public access points. That way, you can choose the best hotel in Turks and Caicos. And you can even visit the restaurants along the beach to enjoy a fantastic view.
2. Mudjin Harbour
Middle Caicos is home to Mudjin Harbour, which is on the north side. This three-mile-long area is great for families staying at Dragon Cay Resort. Not only are there beaches, but there are also cliffs you can explore.
That’s perfect for families with older kids who know how to be safe. But even if you don’t want to go on the cliffs, you can still enjoy the sand and water. It’s not the best place to swim, but you can bring toys to help build sandcastles or for other sand activities.
You can also explore some of the caves around Mudjin Harbour. It’s an excellent place to get out of the sun but still have fun near the water. And while you can go snorkeling, the weather and water aren’t always the safest for that.
3. Half Moon Bay
One of the smaller islands in the middle is home to Half Moon Bay. The island it’s on isn’t home to anyone, so you can’t stay right there. But it’s one of the best Turks and Caicos beaches for families who want a day trip destination.
You can find the beach on the north side of the island, while the southern side has a small lagoon. This island has soft sand, and the water is gorgeous. If you want to explore the area, you may find some iguanas.
To access Half Moon Bay, you’ll need to travel by boat, kayak, paddle board, or kiteboard. A boat is the best option for families with young children. Then, you can have a fun, relaxing day on the island.
4. Taylor Bay Beach
The island of Providenciales is where you’ll find Taylor Bay Beach. This beach is on the southwestern side of the island, so it’s easy for visitors to access. While there are some places to stay in the area, this beach isn’t super popular.
That makes it an excellent spot to relax with your family. You can enjoy low tide and take advantage of more space on the sand. The calm waters also make it a great place for younger children, so they can get in the water.
If you don’t stay nearby, you may want to get to the beach early to get a good parking spot. Then, you can spend the day next to the gorgeous blue water.
5. Sapodilla Bay
Next to Taylor Beach, you’ll find another one of the best Turks and Caicos beaches for families. Sapodilla Bay features the same clear and shallow waters, so your kids can play and swim. It’s also close to a few different villas where you can stay on your trip to the island.
Nearby restaurants are also convenient, so you don’t need to drive everywhere. If you want to explore a trail, you can head to the Sapodilla Bay Hill Rock Inscriptions. The trail includes rock carvings that you and your family can explore.
You won’t be too far from the beach, so you can head straight back to the sand. Then, you’ll be able to incorporate different activities into your day. Since it’s one of the safest beaches in Turks and Caicos, it can provide parents with more peace of mind on vacation.
6. Chalk Sound
Both Taylor Bay and Sapodilla Bay are on a thin strip of land. If you head northeast from either beach, you’ll reach Chalk Sound. The sound is a small body of water inside the island of Providenciales.
It’s a national park, so you can’t do just anything along Chalk Sound. However, you can sightsee as you walk or drive by the area. You can also go kayaking or paddleboarding, but you can’t use powered watercraft.
The water in the sound hardly gets above five feet, so it’s fairly safe for families. You also don’t have to worry about fast watercraft getting in the way of your family fun. It’s also a great place to explore if you’re tired of some of the nearby beaches but still want to be near the water.
7. Long Bay Beach
The east side of Providenciales is home to Long Bay Beach. It’s another one of the best Turks and Caicos beaches for families thanks to the shallow depth of the water. Plenty of hotels and villas are around, so it’s easy for you to access if you stay in the area.
Its southern location helps protect it from a lot of the oceanic activity that you might get on the north side. You and your family can go swimming or rent a kayak or paddleboard to use in the water.
If you prefer to stay out of the water, you can enjoy the sandy beaches. Plus, you should be able to see the shipwreck of La Famille Express. The beach is relatively secluded, but it’s not too far from the main road either, so it’s easy to get to from most Turks and Caicos.
8. The Bight
If you head a bit northwest, you’ll reach The Bight on the island of Providenciales. It is on the north side, so it can experience more ocean activity than the southern beaches. But the Children’s Park is a great spot.
Many people access The Bight through that location. You can go snorkeling to view the reefs and coral heads in the area. Stingrays, eagle rays, and turtles are also easy to find when exploring the beach.
While swimming is possible, it’s not always safe. You’ll need to look out for powerboats because the people using them don’t always pay attention to swimmers. If you aren’t careful, the boats can hurt you and your family.
9. Leeward Beach
You can find another one of the best Turks and Caicos beaches for families on the northeastern side of Providenciales. Leeward Beach is just to the east of Grace Bay, but it’s not nearly as popular, so you won’t have to fight the crowds.
If you hang out on the east side of the beach, you can view the Caicos Cays. You’ll need to be careful to avoid people using wakeboards and going tubing. However, this is a convenient beach for many visitors due to the selection of nearby villas.
It’s also an easy place to start if you want to visit Half Moon Bay. Then, you can explore multiple beaches within a single day of your trip.
10. Governor’s Beach
Grand Turk on the east side of the Turks and Caicos Islands is home to Governor’s Beach. The beach is near the governor’s mansion, and it’s between Cockburn Town and the Cruise Center. It’s also close to Grand Turk International Airport, so it’s a great first or last stop on your trip.
On a cruise ship day, you can shop for souvenirs and get a cold drink. Otherwise, this beach is fairly calm and safe for families, at least on the sand. The water can be a bit unpredictable, so you may want to avoid this beach during hurricane season.
Still, the water looks amazing, so you can simply enjoy the view. If you really want to, you can go snorkeling around Governor’s Beach. However, you may not find a ton of sea life, but you will be able to enjoy the clear views under the water.
11. North Bay Beach
Salt Cay features North Bay Beach on the north side of the small island. This beach takes up the entire northern coast, and the view is amazing. It also has soft, white sand, but there are some rougher parts along the coast.
Its location keeps the beach fairly safe from trade winds and ocean swells. If you visit in the winter, you may see humpback whales. You can even take a whale-watching trip to see the whales a bit better.
All year, this beach is a great place to go snorkeling. Your family can explore different locations off the coast to see fish, coral, and more. You’ll need to fly into Salt Cay airport to get to the island, then you can drive or walk to the beach.
12. Pine Cay Beach
Between North Caicos and Providenciales, you’ll find Pine Cay Beach. You can walk to other islands, such as Water Cay, thanks to a small patch of sand. If you want to stay on Pine Cay island, you can book a villa at The Meridian Club.
It’s an all-inclusive resort that you and your family can enjoy. Then, you’ll have access to borrow kayaks, sailboats, and other equipment for free. The resort also offers boat cruises around the nearby islands.
Because this island and beach are small and hard to get to, you and your family can enjoy plenty of privacy. It’s an excellent destination for families who want a break from the environment of a big city.
13. Cedar Point Beach
Cedar Point is one of the best Turks and Caicos beaches for families. You’ll find it on the eastern end of Middle Caicos, and it’s a remote beach so great for some privacy. The beach features white sand and shallow, beautiful water.
To get there, you will need to drive on paved and unpaved roads, so make sure to rent a good vehicle. You should bring whatever you might need for the day and to fix your car. If something goes wrong, you will be seven miles away from the closest small town.
Because of that, this may not be the best beach for families with young children. However, teens and older kids who have some independence may do well on the beach. Then, you can all explore the remote area.
14. Big Sand Cay
The island of Big Sand Cay is home to no one, but that makes it a great beach to visit for a day trip. You’ll find an amazing beach on the west side of the island, while the east side has bluffs and coves to explore.
It’s an excellent beach to add to your list if you want to get away from people. Like Cedar Point Beach, though, you should bring gear to prepare for anything. Make sure you have food, water, and a first aid kit.
Then, you’ll need to book a custom charter from Grand Turk or Salt Cay. It can be an excellent beach for bigger families who need more room to spread out. But it’s not the best if you want easy access to restaurants or other amenities.
