A magical waterside hub for shopping, dining, and watching live entertainment, Disney Springs is an essential destination for any Disney World vacation. That said, it is important to know how to get from Disney Springs to the other attractions on your itinerary, such as Typhoon Lagoon.
Looking at a map, you’d imagine they’re only a quick walk apart, but is that the best method? Walt Disney World offers multiple options to get from point A to point B, including destinations outside the park. Let us lay out all the facts regarding transportation from Typhoon Lagoon to Disney Springs.
Getting from Disney Springs to Typhoon Lagoon: Your Options
Your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World is likely causing you just as much stress as excitement. Knowing the logistics of each activity on the itinerary, as well as keeping everyone safe in the process, is not an easy task. We will provide you with the following information regarding transportation within the park to (hopefully) ease your anxiety.
Let’s begin your journey from Disney Springs to Typhoon Lagoon! Below are three realistic options for transportation between the attractions. We will also address the question of walking – can it be done?
By Walt Disney World Bus Service
The first option to get from Disney Springs to Typhoon Lagoon is also the most recommended option: by bus. The Walt Disney World Bus Service is complimentary, air-conditioned, and continuously running. It is free to all guests, whether staying at an on-site resort or off-site.
A Disney bus will take you directly from Disney Springs to Typhoon Lagoon. Don’t stress about missing the last bus: Buses from Disney Springs to Typhoon Lagoon begin running one hour before the waterpark opens and continue running until one hour after it closes.
On your waterpark day beginning at Disney Springs, make way to the bus stop near Town Center and board the bus to Typhoon Lagoon there! There will be a Typhoon Lagoon stop on this bus. The buses run approximately every 20 minutes. Once on the bus, the trip to the nearby waterpark shouldn’t take longer than 15 minutes.
This is the ideal transportation option as it offers convenience, safety, and reliability, while being cost-free.
By Car
Another option to get from Disney Springs to Typhoon Lagoon is by car! While not as seamless as the Disney bus option, if you prefer to ride in your own vehicle this might be a preferable transportation method.
Disney World offers complimentary self-parking to all guests. Whether you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort or an off-site hotel, you can park for free. Parking is available at Disney Springs as well as Typhoon Lagoon.
If you choose to drive your own car, it will be as simple as driving from one parking lot to the next. The ride is only a 0.3-mile trip from Disney Springs to Typhoon Lagoon, but keep in mind that traffic and parking can add significant time to your ride.
Driving your own car between the attractions is feasible, but be sure to budget traffic and time to park into your schedule. Depending on how crowded the park is, self-driving could turn into quite a time-consuming adventure.
Can’t I Walk?
If you look at a map of the resort, you’re likely wondering why the top-recommended transportation method isn’t by foot. As previously stated, the two attractions are only 0.3 miles apart. Should be an easy walk, right?
While walking is not prohibited, it is strongly discouraged. The road connecting Disney Springs and Typhoon Lagoon is not pedestrian friendly. It is a bustling road that would be unsafe for a trip on foot, especially with young children or elderly adults. There are no sidewalks, so you would be subjected to a hike through the grass alongside a busy multi-lane road.
Another thing to bear in mind- temperatures in Orlando can reach upwards of 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and you will likely be outside most of the day. Don’t risk heat exhaustion with an additional physical journey in the heat of the sun.
We do not advise walking from Disney Springs to Typhoon Lagoon as it is not a pedestrian-friendly road connecting the two attractions.
By Walt Disney World ‘Minnie Van’ Service
Maybe you prefer riding in a private vehicle, but you did not drive your own to Disney Springs. In this case, you can get someone to drive for you: the Minnie Van awaits! It is bound to be one of the most memorable Lyft rides for you and your children.
Walt Disney World Resort offers an exclusive rideshare option through the Lyft app designed for transportation within the park only. Download the Lyft app, type in your pick-up location (Disney Springs), and select your destination (Typhoon Lagoon). Be sure to select “Minnie Van” as your vehicle.
Due to the park-exclusive nature of this Lyft service, the vehicles are typically within minutes away at all times. While convenient in many ways, this option will cost you a taxi fee.
Assistance with Transportation
As we have established in this article, Disney strives to make transportation within the resort as seamless and convenient as possible. If you are confused or need any assistance at any point, you can ask a Disney Cast Member or call (407) WDW-RIDE or (407) 939-7433.
Conclusion
Now you know your options regarding transit from Disney Springs to Typhoon Lagoon. We hope the above information will help resolve any transportation worries you may have for your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World. Add a little magic to your trip with the Minnie Van, or drive yourself – there are many options to choose from!
