Are you the owner of a thousand-dollar Disney product?
If you are unfamiliar with Disney, then you must be living under a rock! For decades now this media company has played a huge part in the childhood (and adulthood) of many, and its fame shows no signs of slowing down!
The global popularity of so many Disney films has naturally resulted in the release of lots of merchandise. Their ongoing legacy in the movie and television sector has meant that products that were once cheap have now skyrocketed in price – with the Disney pin trading community selling single collectible items for hundreds of pounds.
Bearing this in mind, the team here at The Family Vacation Guide has done some digging to find out which Disney products have increased the most in value over the years. With items ranging from a whole host of categories and characters, there may be a chance that you have something laying around your house that could make you some money!
Most Expensive Disney Merchandise
To kick off, we have made a list of the most expensive Disney merchandise. We looked at eBay to determine which products have sold for the most money in the past year.
- Splash Mountain Walt Disney World Prop – Sold for $15,000
Sharing the top spot in this list are two items with a shared theme of Walt Disney World props. The first piece of merchandise is a wanted-style poster for the original Splash Mountain theme park ride. Splash Mountain has hit the headlines recently because the ride is soon to be closed to visitors. Because of this, the prop is a piece of history which could be the reason why it has sold for $15,000 – that’s enough to cover the price of Disney World tickets for a few holidays!
- 12 Authentic Walt Disney World Signs – Sold for $15,000
Similarly to the Splash Mountain prop, the second item in this top spot has been displayed in Walt Disney World over the years. This piece of merchandise is made up of 12 circular props which all depict a different Disney princess. They hang in the Princess Fairytale Hall where people can go to meet their favorite Disney characters – an unforgettable experience for fans of the franchise.
3. Disney Movie Club Edition of Chicken Little – Sold for $11,650
Predating the development of Disney+ was a service called Disney Movie Club in which people could purchase special editions of the latest Disney films for a discounted price. One of these movies was Chicken Little, and a few VHS versions of the film were released to a small selection of lucky fans. The rarity of this copy, alongside the popularity of the film, has made it extremely sought after and this is evident by the $11,650 price tag.
Disney Ornaments Rising the Most in Value
Aside from adding some pizazz to your home, ornaments do not offer much practical use. Having said this, many people buy them and Disney has an abundance of ornaments out there! We looked at which ornaments have increased the most since they were first put on the market and here’s what we found:
- Prince Charming Ceramic Statuette – 821% Price Increase
With a change in value of 821% since its original $5 price tag in 1985, the ornament with the highest price increase is a Prince Charming statuette. With the most expensive original price of this top three list, it seems that people are still willing to pay a pretty penny to find their Prince Charming!
- Dumbo Ceramic Statuette – 658% Price Increase
Despite having the cheapest current average price in this top three, it’s the vintage Dumbo ceramic statuette that ranks in second place due to its 658% price increase. Dumbo is one of the oldest Disney original movies making it a family favorite across generations. As well as this, a live-action remake was released in 2019 which may have reignited the popularity of this cartoon elephant.
- Pluto Ceramic Statuette – 571% Price Increase
Completing this top three is another ceramic statuette, this time in the form of the iconic yellow-orange Disney dog, Pluto. This cartoon character does not feature in many recent films, but it is still a prominent figure in various Disney theme parks where people can take photos, get autographs, and purchase modern-day Pluto merchandise.
Disney Clothing, Jewelry, & Accessories Rising the Most in Value
Fashion trends that were big in the 1980s appear to be coming back into style now, and this is evident when looking at Disney clothing, jewelry, and accessories on eBay – but which of these vintage fashion pieces have increased the most in value?
- Mickey Mouse Sew-On Patch – 1,222% Price Increase
With an incredible 1,222% increase in price since 1985, this Mickey Mouse sew-on patch is the Disney accessory that has risen the most in value on our list. This item is completely embroidered and can be sewn onto almost any piece of clothing, including jackets and bags.
- Donald Duck Sew-On Patch – 1,127% Price Increase
If you managed to resist the urge to sew this Donald Duck patch onto your clothing back in the 1980s then your accessory could now be worth 1,127% more than the original price! With a similar style to the sew-on patch above, it appears that these items are sought after no matter which character is featured on them.
- Minnie Mouse Sew-On Patch – 977% Price Increase
The third and final piece of merchandise on this list is another sew-on patch, this time with an image of Minnie Mouse’s face. Even though this item is in third place, its value is undeniable with a 977% increase in price since its original tag of just $1.25 back in 1985.
Disney Toys Rising the Most in Value
For some families, toys are passed down through many generations. Because of this, there are some vintage toys out there that people may not even be aware are worth a small fortune.
- Donald Duck Bendy Toy – 2,176% Price Increase
From its original price of just $2 back in 1985, it’s no surprise that this Donald Duck bendy toy can make you a profit now. - Goofy Bendy Toy – 730% Price Increase
First introduced to us in the 1930s as ‘Dippy Dawg’, Goofy is one of Disney’s original Fab Five and is still well known today. If you are looking to get your hands on a bendy toy of this character then it will cost you an average of $16.59 on eBay which is a 730% increase from its original price.
- Mickey Mouse Bendy Toy – 555% Price Increase
In a similar fashion to the previous top three, this list is made up of three of the same type of item. In terms of the toys rising the most in value, a bendy figure of Mickey Mouse comes in third place when taking into account how much it has increased in price. From these items, it appears that the original Disney characters are well and truly in demand.
Disney Kitchenware Rising the Most in Value
Kitchenware is a staple in any household, and Disney has capitalized on this over the years by producing many pieces of fairytale-themed kitchenware items. Below is a list of kitchen-related products that have risen the most in value.
- Walt Disney World Cereal Bowl – 1,086% Price Increase
If you were to look at an image of this Walt Disney World cereal bowl, it would probably look like any ordinary piece of kitchenware. However, the fact that this is now considered vintage means that its value is significantly more than a normal cereal bowl – you can purchase this product for an average price of $23.72.
- Alice in Wonderland Tea Set – 613% Price Increase
Featured in a 1985 catalog, this nine-piece tea set themed around Alice in Wonderland has become an antique over the years. Miscellaneous Disney Products Rising the Most in Value
Disney has released many pieces of merchandise over the years, and some of these novelty items struggle to fit into a single category. Having said this, there is still money to be made from miscellaneous items!
- Mickey Mouse Sorcerer Pen – 2,582% Price Increase
On the face of it, the Mickey Mouse sorcerer pen is not much to look at with a bland white body and chunky lid. Having said this, it has now become a vintage item that clearly appeals to a lot of people in modern society. If you own one of these pens then you have the chance to make some money, with the current value of it being around 2,582% more than its original price.
- Winnie the Pooh Cake Topper – 1,405% Price Increase
With a price increase of $14.05 from its original cost of just $1, this Winnie the Pooh cake topper appears in second place on this list. This product may not have been at the top of everybody’s wish list in 1985, but since the global commercialism of baking, it seems that people are now hungrier than ever to make cakes.
- Mickey Mouse Cake Topper – 1,194% Price Increase
This item is the second cake topper to feature in our list of miscellaneous products rising the most in value. When comparing its original price of $1 to the current average eBay price of $12.94, this piece of Mickey Mouse-related merchandise has increased in value by a whopping 1,194%!

After appearing in the top spot of the miscellaneous products rising the most in value, it’s no surprise that this sorcerer pen is featured first here too! - Mickey Mouse Sew-On Patch – 1,222% Price Increase
Originally appearing in the clothing, jewelry and accessories list above, it is the Mickey Mouse sew-on patch that takes the second spot in this top three. - Tangled Pin #80877 – 2,189% Price Increase
Characterized by its ‘El Capitan’ wording encased by the film’s two main characters, the #80877 Tangled Disney pin is one with a high price tag. Despite having a significantly lower rise in value compared to the pin in first place, a 2,189% price increase is more than enough to pique the interest of many!
- Little Mermaid Pin #68864 – 2,060% Price Increase
As the second pin in this list themed around the Little Mermaid, it appears that this red-haired Disney Princess is a work of art. If in good condition, the #68864 pin could have a potential value of $266.72 or more depending on how many buyers you can attract.
Methodology
We used an archived Walt Disney catalog from 1985 on Imgur to find a list of old Disney merchandise and their original prices. We used Pin Pics to find a list of the current most popular Disney Pins. Pin Pics also provided us with the original year of release and the original price for each pin.
After we had this list of products, we searched each one on Pic Click using the filters ‘Price Highest’ and ‘Buy It Now’. For all of the listed products, we took the ‘average best price’ for the most expensive listing as of December 2022. If we were unable to find a product on Pic Click, then it was removed from the data.
For each product, we subtracted the current average eBay price from the original price to calculate the overall price change. If the price of a piece of merchandise was less now than it was originally then the item was removed – thus ensuring that all of the products in our list were those whose value had increased.
